The VFL have today announced a 50-player rebel VFLW State Team squad ahead of its inaugural women’s representative match in April.

Set to take on the SANFL Women’s State Team at Alberton Oval on Friday, April 11 during the AFL’s Gather Round, it will be the first time a women’s representative team will take the field since the rebel VFLW competition was established in 2017.

Of the 50 players named in the squad, Collingwood has a league-wide 10 inclusions, including newly named VFLW captain Dominique Carbone.

Joining Carbone is new recruit and VFLW vice-captain Lauren Szigeti, who joined the Collingwood VFLW program after three seasons with the Sydney Swans in the AFLW.

Rounding out Collingwood’s selections are returning players Jordan Ivey, Jaide Anthony, and Jemma Ramsdale, as well as new recruits Maddie Boyd, Tahlia Fellows, Amelie Gladman, Courtney Jones, and Lily-Rose Williamson.

In further exciting news, Collingwood VFLW head coach Tom Cashin and assistant coach Sarah Perkins will join the State Team coaching panel, led by North Melbourne VFLW head coach Brett Gourley.

The final 21-player team will be announced closer to the date of the match.

Collingwood's VFLW season kicks off against Casey Demons on Saturday, April 19 at Casey Fields.
