Collingwood’s VFL side have started the season in great fashion with a comfortable 85-point win over Richmond VFL at Punt Road Oval on Thursday morning.
The Pies led every change, but it was an explosive eight-goal third term that saw them burst away to really put their mark on the match.
The side, made up of 10 AFL listed players , showed plenty of cohesion and connection as they put their fast and energetic transition game on full display.
Charlie West, and Liam Hude led the goal-kickers' tally with four each, while Ash Johnson, Riley Mason, Josh Bennetts and Harry Mahoney all kicked two majors.
Young tall forward West made his presence known in the forward line, taking some great contested marks and using his frame to his advantage more often than not.
His fourth goal showed he can also compete at ground level, bringing the ball to ground out of the contest, brushing off two opponents, before slotting the goal with a kick around the body.
The team will next take to the field on Saturday 8 March against Essendon at Windy Hill.
