Collingwood has announced its 2025 VFLW leadership group, with recruit Dominique Carbone to take the reigns as Captain.
In her first season in the black and white, Carbone will lead the group with support from Vice-Captain Lauren Szigeti and leadership group members Erin McKinnon, Amelia Peck and Jordan Ivey.
Moving to the Magpies ahead of the 2025 season, Carbone is fresh off claiming the 2024 VFLW League Best and Fairest and played a key part in the Western Bulldogs’ 2024 VFLW campaign.
Captaining the Bulldogs to the 2024 VFLW Grand Final, the midfielder has been named in the VFLW Team of the Year for the past two seasons and has quickly established herself within Collingwood’s program.
Supporting Carbone as Vice-Captain is Szigeti, who joins the black and white after three seasons with the Sydney Swans. Szigeti brings a wealth of experience and professionalism as an inaugural Co-Captain of the Swans.
Rounding out the leadership group is McKinnon, Peck and Ivey.
McKinnon, AFLW All-Australian ruck in 2018, has been elevated to a leadership role as she enters her second year with Collingwood’s VFLW program.
Peck enters the program after three seasons with Richmond’s AFLW side. Peck is an exciting prospect with her on-field in performance and leadership.
Ivey has once again been recognised and voted on by her peers as she resumes a leadership position for a second consecutive year. Proving vital in the forward line last year, Ivey went on to play six games at AFLW level.
Second-year Collingwood VFLW Coach Tom Cashin said he was pleased to share the exciting news and celebrate the new faces voted into the leadership group.
“I am thrilled to announce the 2025 leadership group which displays great depth and variety amongst all the leaders,” Cashin said.
“We are confident Dom lead the program well and drive standards on and off the field. Dom exemplifies key values that define what it means to be a Collingwood person.
“Lauren has had great positive impact in such a short time with strong communication skills and high football IQ.
“Erin, ‘Mil’ and Jordi are all provide great energy to the group, and I am proud of all the hard work they have put into their football careers so far as we look forward to the season ahead.”
Collingwood’s 2025 VFLW season begins 7pm on Wednesday 19 March against Geelong at Deakin University Oval.
