One of the finest accolades that could be bestowed upon a footballer is to proclaim them a finals performer.
For all that takes place during the home and away season, it’s so often that legends are made and heroes arise when it matters most during September.
This year, it was Taylor Adams who was voted Collingwood’s Best Finals Player.
In doing so, he receives the Bob Rose Award, an honour no Magpie has been recognised with since the club’s last finals appearance back in 2013.
Adams’ finals series was sensational.
He led Collingwood in disposals (117), contested possessions (61), free kicks (11), clearances (27) and inside 50s (25), and ranked second in tackles (27), while kicking three goals.
It’s an achievement made all the more meritorious given it was the first finals series of his career, having arrived via a trade from Greater Western Sydney back in 2013.
