Three of Collingwood’s finest have been recognised for their stellar seasons with placings in the 2018 E.W. Copeland Trophy.

Captain Scott Pendlebury finished third with 178 votes, 25 behind dual winners Brodie Grundy and Steele Sidebottom, while Jack Crisp finished fourth with 160 votes and Taylor Adams fifth with 159.

Scott Pendlebury

Third – J.J. Joyce Trophy

2018 statistics: 25 games, 5 goals, 670 disposals, 147 tackles, 91 inside 50s, 130 clearances, 272 contested possessions, 16 goal assists

In his fifth year as captain, Pendlebury led Collingwood to its first Grand Final since 2011 and its first finals series under his leadership. He began the season strongly, collecting 30 disposals and two Brownlow votes against the Giants in round two. He had 30 or more disposals on nine occasions, including 37 in the loss to Richmond in round 19, and ranked second at the club for disposals and first for tackles. In fact, Pendlebury's 147 tackles was just three shy of his career-high 150 in 2011.

Jack Crisp

Fourth – J.F. McHale Trophy

2018 statistics: 26 games, 4 goals, 601 disposals, 86 tackles, 78 rebound 50s, 92 inside 50s, 45 clearances, 22 bounces, 18 goal assists

Crisp continues to sneak under the public's guard as a force to be reckoned with in Collingwood's back six. He has not missed a game since arriving at Collingwood at the end of 2014, playing in each of the 92 games that have since followed. In 2018, he collected a career-high 601 disposals and 136 marks, ranking second at the club for rebound 50s and third for inside 50s, and no player took as many running bounces. This is his second top-five finish in the Copeland Trophy, having run third back in 2015.

Taylor Adams

Fifth – Jack Regan Trophy

2018 statistics: 23 games, 9 goals, 620 disposals, 120 tackles, 143 clearances, 96 inside 50s, 304 contested possessions, 16 goal assists

Adams took his game to another level in season 2018. After finishing one vote short of winning the Copeland Trophy last year, he backed up with another 620 disposals across 23 games. His finals series was outstanding, capped off by 36 disposals in the Preliminary Final win over Richmond and a further 31 against West Coast in the Grand Final. As ever, Adams did the hard work, laying 10 tackles or more on four occasions, including the Semi-Final against his old Greater Western Sydney teammates. Adams has finished in the top six in the Copeland Trophy in each of the past five years.
