The Collingwood Football Club congratulates captain Nick Maxwell and his wife Erin in the safe arrival of their first son, Archie Hudson.

Archie arrived on Wednesday at the Freemasons Hospital in Melbourne and the skipper is understandably over the moon.

“It all went really well,” Maxwell told collingwoodfc.com.au on Thursday.

“Erin did a great job and now Milla has a baby brother which she's very excited about. She loved giving him a kiss and a cuddle.”

Milla Maxwell, Archie’s older sister, was born in January 2011.

“Both mother and baby are doing really well. Both sets of grandparents have been in to see him plus heaps of other family members, uncles, aunties and cousins.”

Maxwell is one of five fathers on the playing list. Alan Didak was the most recent Magpie to welcome a newborn into the world, introducing daughter Indiana Willow to supporters on The Club in September.

“Everyone at the club wants to see him, but we'll get him home first and then get him in to see everyone,” Maxwell said.

Erin Maxwell, Nick’s wife, tweeted the news on Thursday morning.

“Thank you all for the love & well wishes for our little angel Archie Hudson Maxwell. We are doing great.Very chilled bub just like his sister” - @ej_maxwell.

Nick, meanwhile, posted a snap of his little boy on Twitter.
