The AFL has today announced fixtures for both the 2025 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW seasons, with the Pies set for some blockbuster match ups.
The fixture release includes the full schedule for Rounds 1-13 of the VFL and Rounds 1-9 of the VFLW. The venues, dates and times for the remaining fixtures will be confirmed later in the season.
VFL
Collingwood’s VFL side kicks off its 2025 campaign with a home clash against Sydney, hosting the Swans at Victoria Park on Saturday 22 March.
The Round One clash headlines what is somewhat of a stop-start first month for the black and white, with a Round Two Bye following the Swans match up, before they take on Coburg on a Sunday afternoon in Round Three and then enjoy another week off during the AFL’s Gather Round the next week.
Representative VFL & SANFL teams will face off during Gather Round for the second year running, giving the vast majority of Pies a second week off inside the first month of the season.
The Pies’ return to the field in Round Four will be at Brighton Homes Arena in Brisbane for their annual Good Friday clash against the Lions, the day after the two Clubs’ AFL sides battle it out in Easter Thursday.
As similar scenario follows in Round Five with the Pies travelling out to Windy Hill the day after ANZAC Day to take on Essendon, before they host Footscray at Vic Park in Round Six.
Collingwood head out to Genis Steel Oval in Round Seven once again in 2025 to take on the Northern Bullants, before consecutive Victoria Park games in Rounds Eight and Nine against the GWS Giants and North Melbourne.
Games against the Box Hill Hawks (away), the Casey Demons (home), the Bye in Round 12, and a maiden clash for the year at the AIA Vitality Centre in Round 13 against Sandringham get the Pies to the fully-fixtured stage of the season so far.
Through Rounds 14-21, the Pies’ schedule sees them travel to Southport, host Carlton, head to the Gold Coast, Geelong, Frankston and Williamston in consecutive weeks, before the Bye and an away game with Port Melbourne to finish the home and away season.
The full fixture can be viewed here.
VFLW
The 2025 VFLW season will be played in a new window in 2025, flipping to an April - August model this year after previously being played from March – July.
The Pies’ season will kick off the week after the best players from the VFLW take on the SANFL’s best women’s players during the AFL’s Gather Round, with both VFL and VFLW representative sides heading to South Australia for the clash on April 12.
The 14-Round 2025 season won’t feature the GWS GIANTS and Sydney Swans this year after the NSW sides played five games in last year’s competition. It means the Pies will play 14 games across 16 weeks, before a four-week final series kicking off on August 9.
The Pies’ Round One clash comes on Easter Saturday on April 19 as they travel to Casey, before they take on Essendon in Round Two in a VFL/VFLW double-header at Windy Hill on April 26.
Round Three is another double-header with the Pies hosting the Western Bulldogs at Vic Park before the VFL does the same with Footscray, while the black and white’s VFLW side will take to Genis Steel Oval on Saturday May 10 against the Darebin Falcons, the same day the VFL side plays there against the Northern Bullants.
The Pies enjoy a hat-trick of Victoria Park games against Box Hill, North Melbourne and Sandringham following the Darebin clash, before a league-wide by on the weekend of June 07/08.
They’ll resume their season in Round Eight against Essendon, again at Victoria Park, before a trip to ETU Stadium against Port Melbourne in Round Nine.
Dates, venues, and times haven’t been confirmed for Rounds 10-14, however the Pies will take on Box Hill (away), Casey (home), Geelong (away), and Williamstown (away) respectively.
