Collingwood recruits Jordan Russell and Quinten Lynch will wear their familiar numbers of two and 21 when they start their playing careers as Magpies next season.

Russell wore the No. 2 strip at Carlton between the years of 2005 and 2012, while Lynch wore 21 at West Coast from 2004 to 2012.

With the retirement of Chris Tarrant, who wore the Collingwood No. 2 for the past two seasons following his return from Fremantle, Russell has claimed the familiar digit.

He tweeted a photo of his new locker on Thursday, and referred to friend and former Collingwood player Sean Rusling, who also wore No. 2 at the club between the years of 2006 and 2010.

"So excited with getting No.2 again & wearing the same number as my old mate @SRusling Can't wait to get started," Russell tweeted.

Meanwhile, Lynch - who will arrive in Melbourne this week with his wife to find a new home before their relocation post Christmas - is able to wear No.21 following Sharrod Wellingham's move to West Coast.

Incidentally, Lynch's shift east leaves No.21 free at the Eagles for Wellingham to potentially wear again.

Hawthorn recruit Clinton Young, who has recently returned from a holiday in the US after his appearance in the September Grand Final, will wear guernsey No.14.

Luke Rounds - who was delisted by the Pies last month - most recently wore the black and white No.14.

The younger Pies start pre-season on Wednesday November 21 and the rest a week later, before they all travel to Utah for an altitude training camp on December 4.

Quinten Lynch will wear the No. 21, recently worn by Sharrod Wellingham, Guy Richards and Chad Rintoul. It was the number he wore in West Coast's 2006 premiership.

Jordan Russell will wear the No. 2, following in the footsteps of Chris Tarrant, Sean Rusling and Shane Woewodin. Clinton Young will take over the No. 14 guernsey as worn by Luke Rounds, Anthony Corrie and Shane Wakelin.
