Collingwood's All-Australian nominees Scott Pendlebury and Dane Swan will each have post-season surgery on their hip to ensure they are ready to start training when the Magpies resume in November.

The duo is just two of five Magpies going under the knife for similar procedures with Jack Frost, Jesse White and Ben Sinclair all booked in to have operations on their hips.

Collingwood's Director of Football Neil Balme told Collingwood Media he expected all five players to be ready to start pre-season at the same time as their teammates.

"At this time of the year it is common for players to head in for post-season surgery to make sure they are fit and healthy for the pre-season," Balme said.

Tyson Goldsack has already had an operation on a troublesome knee while young forward Corey Gault underwent a hip and adductor release procedure.

The Magpies are still in the VFL finals but key defender Ben Reid will not play despite being eligible having made a solid comeback to senior football after an injury riddled two years.

The Magpies will have Darcy Moore, Brayden Maynard, Jonathan Marsh, Matt Scharenberg and Ben Kennedy available for selection to play against Sandringham on Sunday.
