The Collingwood Football Club congratulates Captain Darcy Moore on his elevation to the AFL Players’ Association President.
Moore was announced as the 17th AFLPA President at the association’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday night.
The Collingwood Captain will take over the role of President from Patrick Dangerfield, who has held the position since 2018.
Moore has served on the AFLPA Board since 2021, with the past year spent in the role as Co-Vice President.
Collingwood CEO Craig Kelly congratulated Moore on the achievement.
“Darcy is an outstanding leader and highly respected person throughout the league and his elevation into the role of AFLPA President is another reflection of the calibre of person he is,” Kelly said.
“We congratulate Darcy on his appointment. He is an excellent ambassador for our Club and he will no doubt make a significant contribution to the AFLPA in his new role as President.”
Moore spoke to his excitement at taking on the new role and build on the work of Dangerfield.
“’Danger’ has been a strong and effective leader of our association, and I’m honoured and humbled to take over the position from such a respected figure,” Moore said.
“I’m a firm believer in the strength and unity of the playing group, and that we can continue to achieve great things for the players and the industry.
"I’m looking forward representing the players as their President and continuing our work as we build towards another CBA in 2027."
