In a new feature to collingwoodfc.com.au, “DT Magpie” will feature an in-depth look into Collingwood related Dream Team information.  The feature will also offer readers the opportunity to submit their own opinions and ideas on all AFL Toyota Dream Team discussion.

While Saturday’s match didn’t go the way Magpie supporters wanted, Collingwood’s dream team results had a better outcome.

Three Magpies cracked the ton mark with Scott Pendlebury (119), Shane O’Bree (117) and Dane Swan (115) racking up big numbers.

DT Magpie was spot on with his “Ready to breakout” players including Shannon Cox and Martin Clarke.  Cox had 95 DT points and at a price tag of $260,000 with only 4,536 coaches selecting him makes the defender a compelling pick.  After pumping up Cox last week, DT Magpie is kicking himself he didn’t have him in his team due to the AFL Dream Team site crashing on Thursday afternoon.

Clarke registered 92 DT points and with less than 4% of the competition selecting him, could be the big improver of the year.  Listen out for ‘Pie Cast on Magpie Radio’ for an exclusive interview with Clarke about his new positioning this year which could forecast bigger DT numbers.

DT Magpie was shocked to see over 20,000 coaches select Simon Prestigiacomo in their teams.  Unless the Dream Team competition issues points for smothers and spoils, Prestigiacomo’s average will continue to sit below the 50 point mark all season.

With very few coaches trading this week (remember trades are more valuable than gold) let’s look to potential Magpie captains this week.

O Captain! My Captain!
Numbers to the right of the player’s name indicate their last three dream team scores against Melbourne.

Dane Swan (93, 89, 94):
Swan hasn’t been his usual superstar self against the Demons but he still needs to be considered.  If Melbourne continues to play its young midfield, Swan should capitalise and have a field day out there.

Dale Thomas (107, 40, 99):
Has to be considered after scoring over 100 the last time he played the Demons.  DT Magpie admits it’s a risky selection but if Thomas goes off, it will pay dividends.

Alan Didak (101, 57, 85):  Didak didn’t have his best DT day last week but still managed to score 88 points.  His love for kicking the ball is a huge plus against the Demons.

Weather:  Saturday’s forecast calls for a partly cloudy day with isolated showers until the afternoon.  In other words, almost perfect conditions to rack up dream team points!
