Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury and Dale Thomas were considered best on ground in Saturday’s win over Carlton in the AFLCA champion player of the year competition.
After the votes were tallied, Pendlebury (26 disposals, 7 tackles and two goals) and Thomas (29 disposals, 10 marks, one goal) polled a combined seven votes each from Mick Malthouse and Brett Ratten.
Luke Ball’s 22 disposals, nine marks and one goal earned four votes while Travis Cloke’s three goals deemed three votes.
Carlton’s captain Chris Judd (35 disposals used at 57.1% efficiency - second lowest for his side) and teammate Kade Simpson (25 disposals) polled four votes each with Bryce Gibbs (27 disposals and 10 marks) polling one vote.
Thomas has now polled 55 total votes for the season, which has him in a tie for seventh on the competition ladder, 18 votes behind Carlton’s Marc Murphy. Pendlebury is one vote behind Thomas after polling in his last four matches.
Past winners of the prestigious award include Swan (2010), Gary Ablett Jnr (2007-09), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).
