Third-year Magpie Jakob Ryan has taken out the Club’s 2km time trial on the second day of the 2025 pre-season.

With only the first to fourth year players participating in the 2km time trial, only a small field took to the Olympic Park track at Collingwood’s home base of the AIA Vitality Centre on Tuesday morning.

Storming out of the blocks at blistering pace, the 20-year-old Ryan held off challengers Ed Allan and Ned Long who rounded out the podium respectively.

The defender, who is entering his third pre-season since being selected with pick 28 in the 2022 National Draft, will be looking to build on his one career game that came back in late 2023.

Allan and Long ran strongly and closely followed each other across the line in second and third place.

Allan, like Ryan, enters his third pre-season and will be buoyed by a strong end to his 2024 campaign.

The midfielder finished the year with a 21-disposal and one goal performance against Melbourne in the final game of the season, having debuted in Round 11 against Fremantle earlier in the year.

Long will undertake his first official pre-season in the black and white at AFL level, having been picked up in the mid-season draft after spending the first half of 2024 of Collingwood’s VFL list.

It will be Long’s third AFL pre-season after spending two years at Hawthorn through 2022-23.

Former SSP selection Lachie Sullivan and 2023 draftee Tew Jiath rounded out the top five.
