The board of the Collingwood Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Korda as its 13^th president.

Korda, co-president with fellow director Peter Murphy in the weeks since Eddie McGuire’s resignation in February, was ratified as president today after a meeting of the full board during which new director Neil Wilson was also appointed.

Korda has served on the Collingwood board since 2007. In 2002 he founded, with Mark Mentha, the Korda/Mentha group which is a prominent investment and advisory group and the nation’s leading restructuring firm.  He was earlier a partner and a member of the Board of Partners of Arthur Andersen.

In addition to his role as a director of Collingwood, Mark holds numerous company directorships. He is married to Rhonda and has three sons. 

“Collingwood has long held a place in my life and I take on this role with the strong belief that we have in our possession a wonderful legacy, a strength and spirit with which we must seek to do and be better. We have challenges but great people and passion to meet them,” Korda said.

“Collingwood has been made by many and it will take many to drive it forward. I thank Peter Murphy for his support, particularly over recent months, and his determination to see Collingwood continue to flourish. We have worked closely and talked daily over the past months and will continue to do so. I welcome Neil to the board.

“I also thank and pay tribute to Eddie for a contribution that may be the equal of any in the club’s 129 year history. His time was a transformational one that we must honour by creating a new age of prosperity and growth for Collingwood.

“There is a collaborative commitment from the board to serve our club and create real progress that will live on through those who follow.”

Wilson is Chairman and a former Chief Executive Officer of the Victoria Racing Club with an extensive commercial, digital and information technology background. He fills the vacancy at the board table created by Eddie McGuire’s departure.

Wilson founded Charter Wilson which was acquired by ASX listed company Oakton, a leading technology services company which employed over 1,300 people. He was Managing Director and CEO of Oakton from 2005 – 2014.

Wilson holds a Bachelor of Business and Information Systems, is a Certified Practising Accountant, member of the Australian Computer Society and sits on the boards of a number of private and public technology, media and sporting organisations.
