Collingwood captain Nick Maxwell has accepted a two-match sanction handed by down by the AFL's Match Review Panel for rough conduct against Hawthorn's Paul Puopolo during Collingwood's Qualifying Final loss to Hawthorn on Friday night.

As a result, Maxwell will miss this Saturday night's Semi Final against West Coast and, should Collingwood win, the following week's Preliminary Final against the Sydney Swans.

Had Maxwell choosen to appeal, he would have then risked missing Collingwood's next three matches, which would have included the Grand Final should the Magpies qualify.

Fellow defenders Chris Tarrant (who received a reprimand for striking) and Heath Shaw (who was offered a $900 fine for wrestling) have also accepted their sanctions.
