Collingwood congratulates Michael Malthouse on his induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday night.

Malthouse coached Collingwood from 2000 to 2011, leading the club to the 2010 premiership and Grand Finals in 2002, 2003, and 2011.

In all, Malthouse coached the Magpies in 286 matches, making him the second-longest serving Collingwood coach in the club’s history.

Only Jock McHale, who coached Collingwood on 714 occasions, enjoyed a longer tenure.

After a decade of success as coach of West Coast, Malthouse joined Collingwood and shared in the rebirth of the club as a consistent finalist and contender.

The Pies played finals in eight of his 12 seasons as coach, a run that included a swift upswing, a rebuild of the list in 2004 and 2005, a transition from the teams led by Nathan Buckley to those led by Nick Maxwell and six years of challenging.
