Premiership defender Heath Shaw says that he is looking forward to repaying the faith Collingwood has shown in him during his action packed nine-year career.

Shaw, 26, signed a three-year contract on Wednesday that will tie him to the Magpies until the end of season 2015. He told The Club that he is aiming to remain a one-club player.

“I’m wrapt to get it out of the way nice and early in the year and hopefully stay at the club for the rest of my career,” Shaw told The Club on Wednesday night.

“I’m looking forward to some more success in the future and obviously with the family name and everything like that it’s great to be a one club player and continue on with the history of the Collingwood Football Club and the Shaw name.

After 134 games, a premiership and three top-five placings in the E.W. Copeland Trophy, it makes sense that Shaw will continue his career at the club that holds the tightest of bonds with his famous family.

“I grew up playing for Collingwood and (with) all the family history behind it so there’s no real other option for me other than signing up for Collingwood.

“The club’s been really good to me throughout my career through some ups and downs so hopefully I’ve repaid the faith and hopefully a few other guys can do it quickly as well.”

Shaw’s signing comes a fortnight after vice-captain Scott Pendlebury put pen to paper on a four-year deal that will see him remain an integral part of Collingwood until at least the end of 2016.
