Heath Shaw has all but guaranteed he will be a one-club player by committing to a new three-year contract with the Collingwood Football Club.

The deal means the 26-year-old’s playing future with the Magpies is locked away until the end of the 2015 season.

Shaw, the son of former Collingwood captain Ray Shaw, has played 134 games and was a member of the 2010 premiership team.

He debuted in round 17, 2005 after being drafted from the Northern Knights under 18 team as a father-son selection with the 48th overall pick in the 2003 Draft.

In addition to being part of the club’s 15th flag, Shaw has a long list of achievements including three top-five finishes in the best-and-fairest (third - 2009, fourth - 2007, fifth - 2006), being named best player in finals (2009), and placing third in the AFL Rising Star award (2006).

He also won the Michael Tuck Medal as the best player on the ground in Collingwood’s NAB Cup pre-season premiership in 2011, and was the recipient of the 2007 ANZAC Medal.

Shaw’s commitment comes two weeks after vice-captain Scott Pendlebury ended speculation about his future by announcing he’ll remain a Magpie until the end of the 2016 season.

Shaw will discuss his new contract for the first time on Collingwood’s new television program The Club on Fox Footy tonight at 9pm.

His interview will later be published on collingwoodfc.com.au for those who are without Foxtel.
