THE FINAL FLING

Or to put it another way………

STOP TEXTING ME WARNIE!

If I was any more gutted then I’d be joining Weight Watchers.
In fact I’m sooooo gutted twelve Buddhist monks have begun praying to me!

As if the heart-break (YES HEART-BREAK!!!!) of missing a Grand Final by one lousy goal wasn’t bad enough. Jimmy Clement goes and pulls the pin quicker than you can say voodoo doll!

I respect Jimmy’s decision and wish him all the best.
A great Pie man was JC.
But in real terms what it has meant is that an already smitten media has drawn out further their hypocritical love affair with Collingwood’s finals campaign.

I don’t give a flying Megan Gale that the Cats had 425 All Australian players in their side.
I don’t give two brown bits (or a Robbie Walls feature article!) that the Cats had a week off while the Woods fought and scrapped it out with the reigning Premiers in a different time zone.
Nor do I give a stuff that the Cats went inside their forward 50 five billion times. I went inside a hospital a few times but that doesn’t make me a surgeon!
And, whilst the future does look Rosier than the Vic Park grandstand, it gives me zero comfort that another winnable Premiership (YES WINNABLE!!!) went begging and the media just ignore it.

If you want romance go read Mills and Boon.

Let’s get one thing clear – This Geelong side AIN’T THAT GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
And Collingwood were NOT fighting out of their weight division.
We are not Buster Douglas and they are certainly not Mike Tyson – although I wish that were the case.

With a Magpie admin that is so willing to put every freakin’ resource behind the players this must be seen as a missed opportunity not some sort of fuzzy feel good effort.

Irish is good because he is good, not because he has adapted so quickly.
Beyonce Cloke is good because he actually is Destiny’s Child – pound for pound who is better in the Cat’s forward line? He has the ability to be a genuine great of the game. Who has that in blue hoops?
Goldy, Heater, Daisy, Pendles, Ruz – all top shelf.
And what about Harry O’s second quarter? He and Irish turned us around.

Not even a drunk Van Gogh got off the canvas as much as this Pie side!
But there is no guarantee it will be the same next season.
Just like there is no guarantee the Woods were too tired.
It is their job. It’s what they do. It’s what they play for. It’s what they want.
And this was a missed opportunity.

On retiring Jimmy Clement spoke of a dynasty.
I hope he is correct but so far the only black ‘n’ white dynasty I have seen has “I Was Made For Loving You” on it.
I bought that.
I’m buying Jimmy’s comment also.
Now, every good dynasty has at least three flags so get cracking Woods!
