In a new feature to collingwoodfc.com.au, “Stat Attack” will feature an in-depth look into Collingwood statistics provided by Champion Data.

Over 84,000 supporters witnessed Collingwood lose in the final moments to Essendon on ANZAC Day at the MCG, 13.15 (93) to 12.16 (88).

This week's 'Stat Attack' features inside-50s, scoring quarters and accuracy and the mercurial Leon Davis.

Inside-50 results
Collingwood had 54 inside-50s for the match, four less than Essendon.  The Bombers lost possession after an inside-50 24 times, the second highest for the round (Hawthorn - 25).  The Magpies favoured attack from the right side on 23 occasions (left-16 and centre-15).  Every winning team from the round had more inside-50s delivered through the centre corridor than from the left or right. 

A tale of two halves and four quarters
Collingwood has outscored its opponent by 77 points in the second half from the first five rounds (The Magpies have been outscored by their opponent a combined 43 points in the first half).  Collingwood has outscored its opponent by 49 points in the third quarter (second best for third quarters in the competition behind St Kilda’s 71 point difference).  Within the first five minutes of the third quarter the Magpies are at their best, outscoring their opponents by 33 points.

Scoring accuracy
Collingwood’s scoring accuracy from the first five rounds is 54.4% (goals v behinds), 6.1% down from this time last year.  The Magpies finished the 2008 home-and-away season with a 61.9% scoring accuracy, sixth best in the AFL.  Currently the club sits in 13th position in scoring accuracy with 68 goals from 125 scores (57 behinds is second highest number of behinds in the competition).

Leon Davis
Leon Davis had 32 possessions (career-high) including eight marks, seven tackles and two goals.  The 27-year-old was involved in a centre bounce on 13 occasions and gained first possession of the footy four times to rank tied-third for the round (Daniel Cross was first for the round with six centre bounce clearances).
