COLLINGWOOD captain Nick Maxwell's decision to move the pre-game huddle next to the cheer squad may have played its part in the Pies' premiership success.
Defender Harry O'Brien said the delivery of Maxwell's final address in the goal square in 2010 was enough to give the side an additional boost before the start of each game.
"The cheer squad are so involved and have stuck with us for so long," he said.
"We love the energy they give us - it's unbelievable. It's why we go down there. We give something to them and we draw from their energy."
Forward Travis Cloke said the supporters were able to gain insight into the inner sanctum while the players drew on their passion.
"I think it definitely helped because we play on adrenalin and that start always gets your emotions up and started early on," he said.
"It's just what we do. We have a lot of fans and we always want to get the crowd involved and get that cheer going.
"It always gets their hairs on the back of your neck standing up and it's very touching for us.
"It's also great for them to see the boys so close to them right before the game."
Backman Alan Toovey said Maxwell's leadership had been "so important" in getting the Pies to their 15th premiership.
