Facebook - choose your moment
Our Facebook fans can choose from three special milestones in Magpie history to be added to our new timeline.
Each week, the official Collingwood Facebook page is nominating three moments for its fans to vote on to decide which one will feature in the page’s new timeline.
In week three, Peter Daicos’ eight goal performance against Geelong in round two, 1992, Nathan Buckley’s career-high 46-disposals against Fremantle in round two, 2001 and Collingwood’s nerve-jangling extra time Semi Final win over West Coast in 2007 are the milestones to choose from.

Last week, Mick Malthouse's first win as Collingwood coach in round one, 2000, was voted by our Facebook fans as the second moment to be included in our timeline.
Peter Daicos’ Eight Goals
A high-scoring second round affair was fuelled by the Magpies’ Macedonian Marvel Peter Daicos and Geelong’ legendary Gary Ablett Senior. The two maestros put on a match for the ages at either end of Victoria Park. Daicos managed eight of the best, and Ablett seven, each from nine scoring shots. ‘Daics’ was the difference as the Magpies held off a fast-finishing Geelong to prevail by 10-points.
Collingwood 17.11 (113)
Geelong 15.13 (103)
Goals - Daicos 8, Starcevich 3
Disposals - McGuane 31, Russell 25, Francis 24
Nathan Buckley’s Feast
Fremantle was one of Nathan Buckley’s favourite opponents. Between round eight 1995 and round two 2001, he never dipped below 25 disposals in eight matches against the Dockers and polled 13 Brownlow votes. But it was an otherwise unremarkable night in April 2001 that he played one of his most complete games. With 46-disposals, eight marks and two goals, Buckley appeared to be playing a different game to the rest of the 43 men on the field. Collingwood recorded its first win of the season by 17 points at Colonial Stadium, due in no small part to the 28-year-old Buckley’s record breaking performance.
Collingwood 15.15 (105)
Fremantle 13.10 (88)
Goals - Fraser 4, Holland 3, Rintoul 2
Disposals - Buckley 46, Licuria 32, O’Bree 26
Extra Time Delight
One of the great wins of the modern era. Collingwood travelled to Subiaco Oval for a sudden death final against the West Coast Eagles, a team the Magpies hadn’t defeated at home since 1992. The Eagles, without several big names, appeared set for a huge lead midway through the third quarter before Collingwood hit back through late goals to Travis Cloke and Anthony Rocca. The tense final term ended with the scores locked on 10.12 (72) apiece. Two five-minute quarters of extra time were tacked on at the end, and Collingwood’s fresh legs it outscore the Eagles with three goals to nil en route to a 19-point triumph. Dane Swan put the icing on the cake with the final goal of the night (with one of his 38 disposals). Shane O’Bree (29 disposals) and Alan Didak (27) were outstanding despite the late withdrawal of injured ruckman Josh Fraser.
Collingwood 13.15 (93)
West Coast 10.14 (74)
Goals - Rocca 3
Disposals - Swan 38, O’Bree 29, Didak 27
