Official apparel partner of Collingwood and Essendon, adidas, has created four special ‘split’ guernseys for the 2009 ANZAC Day match.
Official apparel partner of Collingwood and Essendon, adidas, has created four special ‘split’ guernseys for the 2009 ANZAC Day match.
The concept came around from adidas’ desire to support the ANZAC Day game and the RSL. The guernsey features a unique half-Collingwood/half-Essendon design, along with the adidas, ANZAC Day and club logos. The guernseys were specially designed by adidas’ AFL licensed apparel department, and manufactured in Melbourne.
“They are definitely very, very unique and the club’s support has been great” explained adidas Sports Marketing Manager, Cameron Baranski. “We doubt you will see something like this ever again.”
2009 marks the 15th anniversary of the traditional Collingwood/Essendon clash, with these very limited pieces representing a chance to own a piece of history. These unique guernseys will be signed by both teams that take the field on 25th April and framed with a commemorative plaque.

All proceeds of the auction will go towards the RSL Foundation, which provides welfare and other activities in the public interest, for the benefit of returned and services personnel and the public generally. It seeks to continue the work of the RSL which was begun by Gallipoli veterans in 1916.
