MAGPIE RADIO > The Squawk with Brad Dick and Ryan Lonie

Magpie youngster Brad Dick spoke of how he’s progressing with his recovery from knee surgery on Magpie Radio’s weekly player show The Squawk.

The Squawk, available as a free stream or podcast on collingwoodfc.com.au, features two Collingwood players as special guests each week, and this week Brad joined Ryan Lonie in the Magpie Radio studio.

The pair shared a laugh and a few stories, with Dick taking the chance to explain how he’s coping after undergoing knee surgery to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament sustained in a practice match against West Coast in Albany back in February.

The 19-year-old from East Fremantle is in a positive frame of mind.

“I’m about 10 weeks into rehab now and it’s going alright,” Dick said.

“It’s still a bit weak and a bit sore, but it’s getting a bit stronger. I’ll be seeing the surgeon this week and we’ll see how that goes and I’ll keep pushing on.”

He praised his team mates for the way they’ve encouraged him and admitted he was pretty despondent early on, but now he’s looking ahead to being fully recovered and resuming his promising career.

“All the boys have been super. I was a bit down at the start, but all the boys have really got around me, so I just can’t wait to get back on the track.”

The exciting midfielder/forward played six senior matches in his debut season of 2007 and showed glimpses of his phenomenal pace and skill in that time.

Although he is set to miss the entire 2008 season, he has a bright future at Collingwood and will no doubt provide Magpie fans with plenty of excitement over his career.

The Squawk has proved immensely popular with Collingwood fans since it began in 2007, and gives listeners an interesting and often humorous insight into the lives of the players, both on and off the field.

The Squawk also gives fans the chance to win an adidas training cap signed by their favourite player, simply by listening to the final segment - Magpie Minds - each week, and answering three Collingwood trivia questions and sending your answers to thesquawk@collingwoodfc.com.au.

Make sure you listen to Magpie Radio’s two shows each week – The Squawk and Pie Night – available exclusively on collingwoodfc.com.au.
