CTV > Des Tuddenham interview

Collingwood champions Des Tuddenham and Gavin Brown were inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame on Thursday night.

Two of Collingwood’s favourite sons, Brown and Tuddenham epitomised courage, toughness and commitment, and their respective inductions were richly deserved.

The pair joined Kevin Sheedy, Garry Hocking, Glen Jakovich, Noel Teasdale, Geof Motley and long-time Queensland umpire Tom McArthur as 2008 Hall of Fame inductees, while Alex Jesaulenko was elevated to legend status.

Brown, who is now coach of Collingwood’s VFL team, played 254 games from 1987-2000 and was a member of the 1990 premiership team.

He won three Copeland trophies, captained the club from 1994-98, and was named on the interchange in Collingwood’s Team of the Century.

Tuddenham, meanwhile, played 182 games for Collingwood from 1962-71 before returning for the 1976 and 77 seasons.

He was skipper for five seasons, won the Copeland Trophy in 1963 as well as being runner-up three times, and was named ruck-rover in the Collingwood Team of the Century.

Both men are members of the Collingwood Hall of Fame.
