The results of the round six AFL Coaches Association (AFLCA) voting saw Collingwood’s Luke Ball and Carlton’s Chris Judd poll eight votes each from the two head coaches.

Both Mick Malthouse and Brett Ratten valued the input of the midfielders in Sunday’s match with both coaches giving votes to Ball, Judd, Dane Swan (7), Scott Pendlebury (5) and Marc Murphy (1).

Ball’s return of eight votes propelled him into third position on the club’s leaderboard while Swan jumped into first position, five votes ahead of Heath Shaw.

In the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, head coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.

Past winners of the prestigious award include Gary Ablett Jnr (2007-09), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).
