Brown: Happy with Harry
Collingwood defender Nathan Brown has backed his teammate's decision in what led to another knee injury for the defender
Brown and O’Brien collided into each other during a spoiling attempt against Lion Jonathan Brown late in the second quarter.
The broadcast vision showed O’Brien looking shocked when the replay of Brown’s injury was projected on the big screen.
“I found him (O’Brien) at halftime and he looked very distraught,” Brown told The Club on FOX FOOTY on Wednesday night.
“I grabbed him quickly and said you have got a job to do. Let’s get it done. Lets get a win. It’s no one’s fault.
“10 times out of 10 I expect one of my teammates, one of my defenders, to do that; to come over the top and crash the pack.
“I am happy he did that because I would expect that from him, to do the team thing.”
While most of the Magpie Army feared the worst considering Brown’s career of knee troubles, the 23-year-old was immediately cleared of any serious damage by the club doctors.
“When I did my ACL I heard a crack and when I did my knee cap I heard another massive crack.
“To hear the two cracks in the knee this time and to see it go out awkwardly, I did fear the worst.
“As soon as I went down in the change rooms the doc checked it out and assured me it was fine, which was a massive relief.”
