In his fifth season at the club, Travis Cloke added 22 games to what now represents 100 career AFL matches at only 22 years of age.
While playing second fiddle to John Anthony as the main target inside 50, Cloke pushed further up the ground and in turn averaged a career-high in possessions (15.0) and tackles (1.7).
He averaged less than 0.4 goals a game in the eight losses this season while booting 1.1 in 18 wins.
The 2007 Copeland Trophy winner will have a big season in front of him in 2010. There is no doubt the father/son recruit has the talent and ability to be considered one of the league’s elite.
Paul Hudson: He had an up and down season both on and off the field. I thought the first game we played against West Coast (NAB Cup) he looked like he was going to have a ripper of a season. Let's hope Travis has a consistent and focused season next year.
2009 highlights
Round 14 v Essendon: In his best return for the year with four majors, Cloke polled two Brownlow votes in the win over Essendon. Cloke outmuscled Dustin Fletcher and kicked two goals against him in 15 minutes. The forward finished the night with 19 disposals (seven contested) and nine marks.
Round 20 v Richmond: The Tigers’ youthful defence was no match for the hard-running Cloke as he racked up 21 possessions and 10 marks. He kicked two goals from five shots and laid six tackles.
