Emerging utility Paul Seedsman has been recognised for his impressive performance in a losing side as the only Collingwood player to score a vote during round 14 of the AFLCA’s Champion Player of the Year voting.

Despite his team finding itself outgunned by 35 points against Port Adelaide, Seedsman avoided a Port Adelaide clean sweep in receiving a single vote for his 34 possession display, which includes 15 marks and seven rebound 50s.

Hailed by his teammates as Collingwood’s most improved player in 2013, Seedsman has emerged as one of the club’s most consistent performers this season, impressing with his composure, vision and dash across the half back line.

Having fast endeared himself to the Magpie faithful, Seedsman’s ability to burst through defensive lines and distribute with ease has provided an added string to the proverbial Collingwood bow, enabling the side to launch counter attacks swiftly and with great efficiency.

Drafted in 2010, Seedsman, a great-grandson of former Collingwood President Jim Sharp, represents an anachronism in the modern game, an individual raised in the tradition of a club who is seemingly fulfilling his destiny in donning the famed Black and White.
