This weekend, there will be six AFL games held across Australia. But none will feature Collingwood.
To make matters worse, Victoria Park will be silent, with the club scheduled for a bye at both AFL and VFL level.
What’s a supporter to do?
Collingwoodfc.com.au has come up with a list of ways to pass the time before the Magpies return against the Crows at the Adelaide Oval next Thursday.
1. Mow the lawn. Clean the fridge. Wash the car. You know, all those weekend household chores that get neglected when Collingwood runs out onto the park.
2. Watch the 1990 Grand Final for the 1001th time. This YouTube clip showcases the match in depth while this video captures Channel Seven’s coverage of the post-match with news reader Peter Mitchell. Some things don’t change.
3. Take a trip down Lulie Street and visit Victoria Park. Kick the footy on the pristine turf, stroll through the old grandstands or take a look at some of the plaques around the ground that showcase our rich history at our spiritual home.
4. Engage your best mate in a good old-fashioned Collingwood debate. Daicos or Didak? Rose or Buckley? 1990 or 2010? Which Collingwood player (or players) should have been included in the AFL’s Team of the Century in 1996 (for the record, not one Magpie made the team)?
5. Choose a new number for your Collingwood jumper. There are so many new faces in the team to choose from. View the list here or watch our new players unveil their numbers for 2014 here.
6. Map out your movements for the remainder of the 2014 season with collingwoodfc.com.au’s combined AFL and VFL fixture.
7. Make a mid-season getaway to a warmer climate, just like Jamie Elliott.
8. Check out the new Lou Richards statue out the front of the Westpac Centre. It was only unveiled three weeks ago. While you’re there, you can take a peek at the progress of the new community facility adjacent to Olympic Park.
9. Grow a mullet like this one that Nathan Buckley sported back in 1995. Or maybe not...
10. Watch this Peter Daicos goal. Just because you can.
