Collingwood’s tall project Jarrod Witts has completed his first two weeks of preseason training at the Westpac Centre ahead of season 2012.

Witts will join the senior list when the club uses its final pick (67) in the upcoming national draft to elevate the 19-year-old from the NSW scholarship list.

The big man spoke to CTV after his Friday session from inside the club.

“I started my preseason last week, which has been pretty tough,” Witts told CTV’s Nick Hulett.

“I have been on the NSW scholarship list since I was 15 (and in) March, I officially moved down and played in the nationals for New South Wales."

Witts trained and worked out with the Magpie team while living in Melbourne.  He made his VFL debut and played several matches under Tarkyn Lockyer when the national competition finished.

“I was lucky enough to play a couple of VFL games towards the end of the season which gave me a good idea of what I was in for.”

Since Witts signed with the Magpies four years ago, he has continued growing and now stands two centimetres shorter than Fremantle’s Aaron Sandilands, the tallest player in the league.

“I think I was 197 (centimetres) and now I am about 209.

"I am really looking forward to getting stuck into it."

Witts entertained several questions from the club's official Facebook page as the interview closed.

Tanner Quattrocchi: Who was your favourite player growing up?
As a youngster I went and watched some games at the SCG a fair bit.  I admired Tony Lockett.

Brad George: What are five tracks that are running hot on your iPod?
Pretty mellow stuff.  Maybe a bit of Jack Johnson and a bit of Bob Marley.

Cheyenne Ocampo: Are you still available?
Yes, I am at the moment.

Judy Campell: What do you want to achieve in 2012?
Definitely to make finals in the VFL and improve on last year’s effort.  Try to get a NAB Cup game and a couple of senior games if I can sneak in.
