Key forward Tim Membrey is officially a Collingwood player, signing with the Club as a delisted free agent on a two-year deal. Membrey has played 179 games at AFL level for St Kilda and Sydney, kicking 193 goals.

Speaking to collingwoodfc.com.au, the 30-year-old was thrilled to be pulling on the black and white stripes.

“It feels pretty surreal to be honest, they’re (Collingwood) a big club,” said Membrey.

“To be joining the Pies, I’ve got some friends here and have got a lot of friends that are supporters. It’s going to be a great opportunity and one that I’m looking forward to.”

After being drafted at Pick 46 in the 2012 National Draft, Membrey played one game in the red and white at Sydney, before moving to St Kilda.

At Moorabbin, Membrey played 178 games and kicked 293 goals. A return that saw him place first in the Saints’ goal kicking tally in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

The potential for a move to the AIA Vitality Centre all started off the back of a phone call from Tim’s manager.

“It happened pretty quickly to be honest. It was pretty quiet for a while there and then my manager just rang me and said ‘Collingwood are pretty interested, do you want to go and have a chat’,” said Membrey.

“I thought why not, and then on the Tuesday I caught up with a couple of guys in here (the AIA Vitality Centre) and the following day I had a medical and then I think the end of the day it was all pretty much good to go.”

Membrey and his wife Emily are set to fit right in amongst Collingwood’s ‘Family first’ culture.

“My beautiful wife Emily, we were high school sweethearts and now we’ve got two little girls, Wren who’s three and Beau who’s one,” said Membrey.

“I grew up in Traralgon in Gippsland and now my wife and I have purchased a 50-acre property there with a little farmhouse on it.

“We’ve been spending quite a bit of time there just renovating it and doing it up and that will be home when we’re all said and done.”

After signing on the dotted line with the Magpies, Membrey is excited for 2025.

“On the field, I’m definitely someone that just always likes to have a crack, I’m super competitive, always trying my best to win and make my teammates proud,” said Membrey.

“Then off the field, I’m a pretty cruisy character and happy-go-lucky and really approachable.”
