Collingwood foundation AFLW player Stacey Livingstone has called time on her football career.
The 36-year-old informed her teammates, coaches and football staff this morning that Saturday’s Week 10 match against Melbourne will be her last.
Stacey Livingstone said:
“I’d like to thank all the players, coaches and staff I have crossed paths with throughout my time at Collingwood. I have formed lifelong friendships and memories that I will cherish forever.
“Being at Collingwood since the beginning, this program has become my family and I’ll always support the team and its future.
“It’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but I’m honoured to have been part of the journey. I’m grateful for all the memories made wearing the number 12 jumper.”
Livingstone joined the Pies in the AFLW’s Inaugural season in 2017, playing alongside current vice-captains Brittany Bonnici and Ruby Schleicher, and now Pies development coach Jess Duffin. Skipper Bri Davey, Sabrina Frederick, Lauren Brazzale, and Jordan Ivey went from oppositional players at the time to now teammates.
The defender recently celebrated her 75th milestone against the Adelaide Crows in front of a home supporter base at Victoria Park and has featured in all of Collingwood’s home-and-away games this season.
The full back had a career average of 9.2 disposals and kicked her first AFLW career goal in the Pies 2024 season opener match against Sydney.
Collingwood’s Head of Women’s Football Jess Burger said:
“It’s hard to say goodbye to Stacey, whose impact on the program is immeasurable.
“She is arguably one of the hardest working people in football, having kept up her day job as a forklift driver, working up to eight-hour shifts before training in the formative years of her football career.
“We thank Stacey for her leadership and passion and for shaping the team in many ways.
“We wish Stacey, her partner Sarah, and their son Hunter, all the best with her future endeavours."
