All foot, no hand: Blair
Jarryd Blair says the ball didn't touch his hand in kicking the match-winning goal on Anzac Day.
Did he inadvertently brush the ball with his hand as he soccered through the match-winning goal for the Magpies in their one-point Anzac Day win over Essendon at the MCG on Wednesday?

"No," Blair told SEN on Thursday morning. "It definitely didn't go near my hands."
Blair was speaking after a typically industrious outing, one that probably reinforced the idea for the time being that the Magpies and the Bombers deserve the right to play on the MCG on Anzac Day.
"Anzac Day is one of the biggest days on the calendar that everyone wants to be part of. Everyone was excited to have a run and it was great to have the four points," he said.

Blair noted that Essendon's ability to repeatedly come back at the Pies was typical of the emotion and feeling that comes with the day.
"We felt comfortable a couple of times but in those games they always fight back. We gave them a couple of opportunities and they got back into it," he said.
The unanimous choice for best on ground was Magpie midfielder Dane Swan, who Blair initially thought had a good day and whose statistics afterwards then confirmed it.
"I thought 'Swanny' must have had a bit of it, but [I had] no idea that it was 42 [possessions] and three [goals]."

The Magpies have righted the ship with a 3-2 record, after all sorts of dire predictions following the round three thrashing from Carlton, with Blair admitting that this season might play out differently to those in the past.
"This time last year we were really up and about and playing our best footy, but then lost momentum towards the end of the season. It's more a slow build this year, play some reasonable footy, figure out what areas need to improve then build some form into the finals."
