Collingwood star recruit Travis Varcoe wore his heart on his sleeve after the loss against West Coast, admitting that he ‘hates’ the feeling after a string of close defeats.
Varcoe’s intensity and passion were on display once again against the Eagles but admitted that after a tough month of football, he’s getting frustrated with the result.
“Four losses is still four losses. We can’t just hang onto close enough is good enough,” Varcoe told Collingwood Media.
“We’ve just got to find a way. It’s a bitter taste, I hate it.”

Collingwood is left to regret a four week span where they tested but ultimately fell short against the best teams in the competition.
“It just goes to show you that you can’t be a little bit off against a quality side, because they’ll sting you,” Varcoe said.
“We focus on one thing, one week and slacking off on another thing. It comes with maturity of the group and keeping each other accountable”
Despite the disappointment of the past month, Varcoe is optimistic about the direction of the team heading towards finals.
“I’m proud of the boys, we fight every game to the end,” Varcoe said.
“It’s not the end of the world, we’ve still got however many rounds to rectify it and get back on track.
“Hopefully we can tie every piece of the puzzle together and we’ll end up getting those results”
Varcoe gathered 20 disposals and continued his impressive defensive form, laying another six tackles against West Coast.
