* You might have noticed that last week we published a story, in the lead-up to the big clash with Carlton, showing that a win would move Collingwood within two victories of drawing level with the Blues in the historical win-loss score since the start of the VFL in 1897.
After the game we received this great piece of information from our historian, Michael Roberts. Michael has pointed out that when you take into account the 12 matches the clubs played in the VFA between 1892 and 1896, the Pies take the lead! Happy days! So here's how the overall figures now look in the wake of Sunday's win.
VFA – 1892-1896
Collingwood 8
Carlton 4
Draws 0
VFL – 1897-2018
Collingwood 125
Carlton 127
Draws 4
VFA/VFL COMBINED
Collingwood 133
Carlton 131
Draws 4
* Collingwood has now won 14 of its past 18 matches against Carlton, a period of results dating back to the Pies' 54-point win over the Blues in round 17, 2009.
* Will Hoskin-Elliott's three goals against the Blues have moved him up to equal-fifth in the race for the Coleman Medal. The Coleman leaderboard now looks like this:
40 - Ben Brown (North Melbourne)
35 - Jeremy Cameron (Greater Western Sydney)
31 - Lance Franklin (Sydney Swans)
31 - Jesse Hogan (Melbourne)
30 - Will Hoskin-Elliott (Collingwood)
30 - Jack Riewoldt (Richmond)
16 disposals, seven marks + seven one percenters. Lynden Dunn could be one of the great trade bargains of recent times. Mr. Reliable #FOREVER pic.twitter.com/nLcbYks0M8
