Defender Tom Langdon, ruck Jarrod Witts and forward Jamie Elliott comprise the Magpie trio to have receive the honour, which is selected by the general public through an online poll.
The Magpies are the second most represented club in the team, with only the Gold Coast Suns featuring more often in contributing six players.
Drafted with pick 65 in the 2013 National Draft, Langdon’s maturity proved telling as he immediately revelled in an AFL environment, assuming a berth in the Magpies back six from the opening round of the season.
Playing 19 matches during his debut season, Langdon’s remarkable calm belied his year, with his penchant for stepping back with the flight of the ball proving a regular feature of his came.
Averaging nearly 17 disposals per game, Langdon, who was at one stage touted by AFL legend Matthew Lloyd as a potential All-Australian, appears poised to step into the breach left by Nick Maxwell’s absence.
Witts’ selection meanwhile is further reward following a season which saw him wrest control of Collingwood’s primary ruck role, and take considerable strides forward in his development.
Demonstrating greater prowess around stoppages, Witts’ contested marking ability also proved notable, while his ability to rotate inside the forward half of the ground was also encouraging.
Ranking 15th overall in the AFL for total hitouts, Witts appears on track to emerge as one of the competition’s premier tap specialists in the seasons to come.
There perhaps was no greater certain selection than Elliott within the forward line of the 22under22 side, with the silk-skilled sharpshooter continuing his rapid emergence into a key attacking weapon this season.
Improving on his production from last season, Elliott’s game breaking ability again came to the fore, with his extraordinary leap and contested marking strength making him a difficult proposition for opposition defenders.
Booting 33 goals from 17 matches, Elliott’s selection represents due recognition for a player seemingly destined for higher honours in the future.
