To represent the Collingwood Football Club at senior level is a proud achievement for any footballer. 1134 men have pulled on the Black and White stripes and many more will do so in the future.

Being a Collingwood player today means being a Collingwood player forever. But what happens to the mateship held by teammates once the final siren sounds on a playing career?

Magpies of generations past will gather to reflect on fond memories at the 2016 annual Collingwood Football Club Past Players Association (CFCPPA) Luncheon on Friday 20 May.

The CFCPPA plays an important role in representing and supporting players of all eras who have worn the Collingwood jumper.

Not only focusing on the physical and emotional health, the CFCPPA also helps provide the resources and training for those transitioning out of a life in football.

Organised by 2010 Premiership player and CFCPPA vice-president Ben Johnson, the 2016 luncheon in the Glasshouse at the Holden Centre (12pm start) will be attended by the likes of Alan Didak, Paul Licuria, Chris Tarrant and Peter Daicos.

Collingwood’s proud traditions are built on teamwork and solidarity, and one of the fundamental objectives of the CFCPPA is to drive interaction between past players and the Collingwood community.

Support for the CFCPPA has grown significantly over the last few years, and Collingwood members and supporters are encouraged to attend this year’s luncheon.

The luncheon is an important initiative designed to raise funds and support for the association, with all proceeds going to the Murray Weideman Past Players Welfare Fund.

Tickets are a $160 per person, with the event including a two-course meal, beverages and entertainment.
