The Brown brothers are here to stay.

Cue the nostalgia.

Both Callum and Tyler have re-signed with Collingwood and will remain at the club until the end of the 2020 season.

By signing, the pair continue a link between the famous Brown name and the club which begun when father Gavin debuted for the Magpies in 1987.

Both sons found their way to the Holden Centre under the father-son rule, but now have the opportunity to forge their own careers for at least the next two seasons.  

For Callum, the decision was a simple one.

“When I got told the club wanted to sign me up for another two years, I was pretty happy,” he told Collingwood Media.

“Not much thought went into my mind except signing.”

“I grew up barracking for the club. I’ve only seen one team, and I love that.”

The older of the duo, Callum has played 11 games in his first two years in Black and White.

The midfielder debuted in a blockbuster Queen’s Birthday clash with Melbourne last season, and has since been a welcome AFL inclusion on a number of occasions. He surpassed his career-best disposal tally with 22 touches on ANZAC Day this season, and has played six of the Magpies’ first 12 games.

Tyler on the other hand has been quietly plying his trade with the VFL Magpies in the early stages of 2018.

Standing 10 centimetres taller than his older brother, Tyler has impressed coaches and fans alike with his versatility and ability to adjust to senior football.

“Coming from the TAC Cup, it’s been a massive step up,” Tyler said.

“There was a lot of hard work involved, but it’s been good.”

“Everyone at the club has been really good. Everyone has been really welcoming – from the leadership group, to the boys who have only been here one or two years.”

The Brown boys share a house, a football club and a manager – but contract talks were more or less kept separate.

Callum said it was only briefly discussed before both boys eagerly put pen to paper.

With that, the duo will continue to live in each other’s pockets for at least another two years.

And the sky is the limit for what the future may hold.

“Hopefully by 2020, I’m playing senior footy consistently and being a really good contributor to the team,” Callum said.

“I want to be making a bit of a name for myself.”
