Collingwood will hope that it’s win over Box Hill will be the catalyst for improved results, starting this week against Port Melbourne.
The Pies’ next opponent is Port Melbourne. The Borough have made an excellent start to the season, currently sitting in fourth spot on the ladder.
Port are coming off a bye but had rattled off five consecutive wins prior to their break.
Two names which will be familiar to Collingwood fans are Jarryd Blair and Ryan Pendlebury, both of whom have been crucial to Port’s strong start.
If last season’s matches are anything to go by, we could be in for a thriller at Adcon Stadium.
Port staged a last-quarter comeback to win in round two, before the Pies took revenge in round 18 with a two-point win at North Port Oval.
In injury news, Matthew Scharenberg is expected to be fit to play his first game of 2019 after narrowly missing selection last week against the Hawks.
Scharenberg hasn’t played since having surgery to repair a torn ACL in July last year.
Tyler Brown is also expected to make his come back from a shoulder injury.
The Pies’ mid-season draft selection Josh Noble is also in line to make his debut after arriving at the club on Wednesday.
Will Kelly will miss an extended period with a hamstring injury suffered on the weekend, so will not be available.
