Unrestricted free agent Harry Perryman has joined Collingwood from the GWS GIANTS after the 2024 AFL Free Agency Period commenced today.
Here’s all you need to know about the 25-year-old utility:
Where has he come from?
The 25-year-old utility joins the Magpies after spending the last eight years at the GIANTS, playing 129 games since his debut in Round Nine, 2017.
Born in Collingullie, New South Wales, he played junior football for Collingullie-Glenfield Park in the Riverina Football Netball League before being selected in the GWS GIANTS Academy. He was then selected at Pick 14 in the 2016 National Draft by the GIANTS.
How does he play?
Perryman is 187cm tall and plays primarily across half back but has pushed through the midfield and forward, averaging 3.2 tackles and 18.5 disposals a game across his career.
His average of 3.2 tackles a game gives him an ‘elite rating’ for the metric due to him being in the top 10% of players in the same on-field position across the competition, according to AFL.com.au statistics.
He averages 4.2 marks, 292 metres gained and 2.9 rebound 50s a game.
A Magpie at heart all along?
Perryman is a childhood Collingwood fan and wore the 36 at the GIANTS because of idol Dane Swan.
At the GIANTS end of season celebrations in 2017, he dressed up as Swan. He is pictured below with then teammate and former Magpie Heath Shaw.
How did he play in 2024?
Perryman played 21 games in 2024, averaging 18 disposals, 2.8 tackles, 4.9 marks and 4.1 rebound 50s.
He missed the Opening Round clash between Collingwood and the GIANTS due to a pre-season hamstring injury, but returned in Round Two versus North Melbourne.
What does he do off the field?
Perryman is a keen fisherman, with the 25-year-old often posting photos on Instagram of his hauls in the ocean.
What are some other fun facts?
Harry Perryman will become the person to play for both GWS GIANTS and Collingwood, joining a list of big name players in Will Hoskin-Elliott, Bobby Hill, Taylor Adams, Adam Trealor, Lachlan Keefe and Heath Shaw.
Perryman played with current Magpie Bobby Hill for four years from 2019 to 2022, while Wil Hoskin-Elliott joined Collingwood in the same off-season as Perryman joined the GIANTS at the end of 2016.
