Collingwood midfielder Dale Thomas remains confident that out-of-contract teammates - including power forward Travis Cloke - will follow the lead of Dayne Beams and recommit to the club.

Beams capped off his breakout year in the midfield by agreeing to a three-year contract extension on Thursday.

Thomas said he didn't think Beams' news put more pressure on those yet to follow suit.

He also said the players believed their group would remain together despite a number, including Cloke, Sharrod Wellingham, Ben Reid and Harry O'Brien, that were yet to recommit.

"I don't think it puts any more pressure on them," Thomas said.

"Obviously, contracts are things that are dealt with internally so obviously the biggest one so far as been Trav and that's been decided it's going to wait until the end of the year.

"We're still super confident we can re-sign him, and there's still a lot of other good players that are out of contract and I'm sure now they're getting their deals done.

"Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can see a few more of the boys sign up and really look forward to making a charge into September."

Beams will now remain a Magpie until at least the end of the 2015 season.

He joins Scott Pendlebury, Heath Shaw, Luke Ball, Steele Sidebottom, Jarryd Blair and Lachlan Keeffe as Pies to have recommitted this year.

Thomas said it was a positive example set by those who had re-signed in 2012, combined with the signatures of players like Dane Swan last year.

"I'm very confident [the group will remain intact]. I think the signings of blokes so far this year and last year as well, I think we've set a standard amongst the group," he said.

"I can fully understand if blokes want to leave and that's their own decision. People are driven by different things.

"Our group hasn't made a commitment as such but to see blokes signing up like 'Pendles' and 'Swanny', who are the elite players in the AFL signing for less money, it sends a really good message to the young boys."

Thomas, Chris Dawes, Alan Toovey and Nathan Brown also re-signed in 2011.

Thomas said he "certainly hoped" he'd be fit to face North Melbourne on Saturday night at Etihad Stadium despite sustaining a corked knee in the win over the Swans on the weekend.
