The Old Carey Grammarians Football Club is the latest club to spend an evening at the Westpac Centre to take part in an Elite Training Session.

Training at Collingwood’s headquarters, Old Carey traded in the cold and wet conditions at Carey Bulleen for a night on the sprung floor, in the pools and ice baths and in the gym before going through their weekly review in the Magpies’ theatrette.

Up to 60 senior players took part in the training session, which will hopefully give the club a boost ahead of the VAFA Premier A Grade finals.

Grammarians President Paul Newton thanked Collingwood for the use of the facilities.

“On behalf of the players and coaches, thanks very much for hosting us last night, everyone had a ball and was very timely for us after a tough weekend’s football,” said Newton.

“Collingwood’s facilities are 1st rate and we were able to provide our playing group with some insight into what the elite footballers experience in the AFL, we will definitely come back again in 2013.

“Hopefully the wining luck can continue for the teams that visit the Westpac facilities and we get a win this weekend over Uni Blues”.
