THE COLLINGWOOD Swan says the key to beating the Sydney Swans is to stick to your structures.

The Magpies have won the last six battles of the birds, so they should have a fair idea about how to knock off the 2005 premiers.

Collingwood will be swooping the Swans at Telstra Dome on Saturday night in a battle that could send either side to the top four or towards an early September holiday.

Pies midfielder Dane Swan said his side was well equipped to take on the Swans.

"We just have to stick to our structures," he said. "We do match-up pretty well against Sydney, so hopefully we keep doing the things we've been doing, and things will hopefully fall our way.

"They've got a few good players to come back – Adam Goodes didn't play last time and he's obviously a superstar.

"We've got a couple out, so hopefully things go our way.

"They'll obviously be looking at ways they can beat us – we've beaten them the last three or four times, so they'll come out and might bring a new gameplan or try something different against us, so that's something we'll have to take into account when we run into them on Saturday night."

Swan was unequivocal when asked if he was likely to play on Goodes.

"I hope not," he said with a laugh. "He's been playing more forward, so his groin might be a bit better so he might get pushed into the midfield, but we'll plan for him to play as a midfielder and deep forward."
