Collingwood finished Sunday’s clash with Hawthorn with two of its most important players in the hands of the medical staff on the interchange bench.
Fortunately, Darcy Moore (hamstring) and Tyson Goldsack (concussion/ broken nose) remain in the frame to back up against Essendon just six days later.
General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh told Collingwood Media’s Blackmores Injury Update the pair will be tested later this week, but the club remains hopeful they will be available to face the Bombers.
“Darcy had a scan on Monday and, pleasingly, the scan was pretty positive.

“While there is some minor disruption, we will test him later in the week there is some chance that Darce may be available to play, which is good news.

“Goldy has a broken nose and potentially some concussive effects from it.
“We will run some concussion tests later in the week to see if there are any ill effects from that. He had his nose operated on Tuesday morning, so again, like Darce, Tyson is someone we will assess towards the back end of the week in terms of his availability.”

Daniel Wells, meanwhile, is likely to graduate into full training at some stage this week as he recovers from a calf complaint.
“Wellsy will do full training this week and, as we said last week, we would expect we will be able to get some good load into him,” Walsh continued.
How Wells progresses during training this week will help dictate the next phase of his rehabilitation.
