Reigning Copeland Trophy winner Dayne Beams told CTV that he was "pretty stuffed" after playing in all four quarters of Collingwood's win over Adelaide on Friday night.

It was Beams' first match for the season after enduring a frustrating 14-week layoff with a persistent quad injury.

"I wasn't sure how much game time I was going to play tonight," Beams told CTV's Glen Moriarty.

"I think at the stage of the game I didn't get the red I thought I might, at three quarter time, but luckily enough the game was pretty close and I think they wanted me out there maybe!"

Beams gathered 25 possessions (10 kicks, 15 handballs) and recorded three inside 50s and a goal assist in a return that would have warmed the cockles of Collingwood hearts around the world.

"It was great to get through without any hiccups or any more injuries so that was really great for me. The result was fantastic. I felt better as the game went on and I felt my touch was really good."
