Collingwood has climbed on to the winners list, simultaneously condemning Sydney to a 0-3 start to the season after the visitors won 11.14 (80) to 11.13 (79) at the SCG on Friday night.
The Magpies came out of the blocks showing plenty of intent, applying immense pressure to the Swans and taking a 21-point lead into the first break.
250-gamer Lance Franklin addressed the Sydney players during the break and they seemed to come out more focussed, pulling the difference back to nine points at half-time.
Will Hoskin-Elliott celebrates the match winning goal.
While Franklin himself was struggling to have an influence the momentum of the match started tilting the Swans' way, but they were still a goal and a half down at the final break and Collingwood refused to lie down.
The last quarter was played at breakneck pace as Sydney hit the lead but the Pies grabbed it back and held on for the one-point victory.
