CTV> Lonie discusses his return to the team

Ryan Lonie will make his 2008 debut this Friday night when the Pies take on the Hawks at the MCG.

The 25-year-old veteran of 122 games has not played at AFL level since round 18, 2007.

He will be looking to build on the strong form he has shown at VFL level in the past fortnight after coming off a shoulder dislocation he sustained in the VFL side’s loss to Werribee back in round nine.

Lonie spoke exclusively to CTV at the Lexus Centre on Thursday shortly after learning of his selection.

“It’s been a long haul.  Obviously a bit slow at the start of the year and obviously dislocated my shoulder about eight weeks ago so (the) last couple of weeks in the reserves.  It’s good to be back playing in the seniors," Lonie said.

“I just want to get through the game with my shoulder and just build my fitness up and get a bit of confidence back and hopefully can stay in the side for the rest of the year.”

The team will be eagerly anticipating Lonie’s return, a player who has contributed to three final campaigns for the Pies including two Grand Finals.
