Premiership Pies return to face Lions
Two premiership players will make their first appearances for Collingwood this season at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
Tyson Goldsack and Nathan Brown have been brought into the 27-man squad after sitting out the first two rounds of the NAB Cup.
Goldsack underwent ankle surgery last November after originally sustaining the injury against St Kilda in round 19 last season, while Brown is back after back tightness ruled him out of the club's opening fixtures against the Western Bulldogs and Essendon.
Several of Collingwood's biggest names will be watching on the from the grandstands, including Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury, Travis Cloke, Ben Reid and Alan Toovey.
Reid appeared to hurt his right knee during the third quarter of last week's win over West Coast, but Director of Football Geoff Walsh said that, while he will not play this week, the injury should not cause any interruption to Reid's season.
The return of Goldsack and Brown and inclusion of Ben Kennedy means that, should all three make the final 24-man team, Collingwood will have used 35 of the 47 players on its entire playing list.
The high number of players rotated through the team has exposed the club's depth to the intensity of senior football, while last Sunday's victory against West Coast at Patersons Stadium provided the younger members of the team the invaluable experience of winning on the road against a high quality opponent.
Meanwhile, Brisbane will be led out by Jonathan Brown for the first time this season. Brown, who did not play in either of the Lions first two NAB Cup matches, will take the reigns alongside new co-captain Jed Adcock.
