1. Four quarters are required against the cream of the crop

A top of the table outfit made Collingwood pay for their lapses in concentration.

The Lions brought the Brisbane heat, making the most of their trademark pressure to lead by 13 points at quarter-time, 10 points at the major break and 16 points at the final change.

A late run from Collingwood saw the margin reduced to just three points, but the Pies simply had too much work to do. It was too little too late as time elapsed and the Pies fell agonisingly short.

2. Joanna Lin is a star on the rise

Since her debut in Round 2, Joanna Lin has slotted into a star-studded Collingwood midfield seamlessly.

Lin is establishing herself as a player renown for her reliability, ground coverage and work ethic.

The 19-year-old was rewarded for effort on the weekend when her snap cleared the pack and bounced through for a miraculous goal to bring Collingwood right back into the match.

3. Sophie Alexander is a very important link

Sophie Alexander has established herself as a vital link in the Collingwood chain.

Alexander’s physicality and overhead marking have been a key in Collingwood’s ball movement, consistently providing a target to transition into attack.

This week, Alexander hit the scoreboard with a major of her own. The next step? Converting a few more opportunities to prove an even larger threat.

4. You can’t give Aishling Sheridan an inch

It was a case of right place, right time when Aishling Sheridan booted Collingwood’s first goal on Sunday afternoon.

Sheridan has shown that when given even any degree of space or time, she'll run with it.

With pace to burn and a remarkable knack of reading the play, Sheridan has a handy eight goals to her name this AFLW season.

5. The girls will always fight it out

While facing an 18-point margin at three-quarter time wouldn’t have been Steve Symonds' preferred scenario, he couldn’t fault the effort from his side that followed.

With Jordyn Allen (ankle) and Lauren Butler (hamstring) both off for the entire second half, Collingwood rallied in the final term and refused to lay down without a fight.
